Spring is finally here, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to give your home some seasonal TLC. Whether you're planning to sell this year or just want to keep your property in tip-top shape, these spring maintenance tips will freshen things up—and boost curb appeal while you're at it.
1. Start with the Lawn
After months of snow and salt, your lawn needs a little love. Here’s where to focus:
Rake up debris: Clear out leaves, twigs, and dead grass to let the lawn breathe.
Overseed bare spots: Patchy areas? A little seed and soil go a long way.
Fertilize strategically: A spring fertilizer can kickstart healthy growth, but be sure to follow the label—more isn’t always better.
Mow and Edge the lawn: Crisp edges around walkways and garden beds give a polished look instantly, while a freshly mowed lawn offers prospective buyers the impression that your home is well cared for.

2. Tidy the Garden Beds
Pull weeds, turn the soil, and top up your mulch. Not only does mulch suppress weeds and retain moisture—it also makes your beds look clean and intentional. You might also consider planting some annuals to give your garden an extra pop of colour.
3. Power Wash the Exterior
Siding, porches, decks, driveways, and walkways all benefit from a good rinse. It’s one of the fastest ways to brighten your home’s appearance. Your friendly neighbourhood Realtor may have one you can borrow if you don't own one ;)
4. Touch Up Paint and Trim
Check for peeling paint or faded trim around doors and windows. A fresh coat—even just on the front door—can seriously elevate your home’s vibe. Your home's entryway is also its first impression, and you want to leave a good one!
5. Clean Your Windows (Inside and Out)
Let that spring sunshine in. Clean windows make a big difference, especially if you plan to list soon—natural light is a buyer magnet. There are plenty of good companies that will do the work for you at an affordable cost if you don't fancy hopping up on a ladder yourself.
6. Swap Out Seasonal Decor
Now’s the time to retire winter wreaths and welcome spring with a new doormat, planter, or a few potted flowers. It doesn’t take much to make your entrance feel warm and inviting.
